The First SermonIn the first sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, emphasized the need for the Husseini revolution since the Muslim Nation at the time needed a miracle to end the drift towards falsehood that afflicted it, especially after the brainwashing the Umayyad dynasty practiced.Karbala aimed at putting an end to this trend. In this respect, history has recorded that it was followed by revolutions that shook the thrones, and Imam Al-Hussein was the exemplar and guide for whoever wished to revolt against tyranny. He (a.s.) was an inspiration, throughout the Islamic history, to all those who wanted to revolt against occupation, tyranny and dictatorship. Actually, what Karbala has implanted in our ideology thought and hearts is quite evident, being the spiritual inspiration of our resistance against occupation...The Sayyed ended by asserting some of the lessons we ought to acquire from the Husseini revolution:Firstly, we should not trust those who stand in the middle and do not take sides. Secondly, we have to revive the humanistic trend of Islam and rid it of any form of fanaticism and tribalism. Thirdly, we should never put our stakes on numbers, for the companions of Al-Hussein were about eighty facing thousands, yet, history recalls their stories as ones of heroism and valor, while the larger number of Yazid’s army is only mentioned in a negative sense. The second sermonIn the second sermon, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, saluted the people for their participation in large numbers in the Ashura procession despite the difficult security conditions. He then moved on to Syria where he noticed that although the government and the opposition have agreed to participate in Geneva II, the big powers are in no hurry. What they are actually concerned with is to deplete all the resources of Syria and ensure that it remains a front where sectarian sedition prevails and spills over to the neighboring states. On another level, the Sayyed welcomed the withdrawal of the Palestinian delegation from the negotiations with the enemy, calling on all the Palestinian factions to unite against it, as such an enemy cannot be faced except with unity and resistance. Moreover, the Sayyed warned that some are promoting sectarian sedition in Yemen and called on all parties to adopt dialogue.Back to Lebanon, the Sayyed considered that the security situation demands that all officials be in a state of alert to resolve it. He also called for hastening the formation of the government so as to solve all the economic and security problems and to protect the country from the repercussions of what is happening in the region./129
